The Great American Clean Up is back and Green Leaf will be doing its part to “Keep America Beautiful”

Green Leaf Community Clean Up THIS SATURDAY MARCH 20, 2010

Common Area on SW 67th Terrace and SW 42nd Place

8:00 AM:  Volunteers check in and begin litter clean up, raking, and removal of bulk “junk” dumped throughout Green Leaf Common Areas and Easements.  Please be aware that volunteers will be around our community this morning, so drive safely and let your neighbors know too.

12:00 Noon: Hazardous Waste and Operation Medicine Cabinet

Hazardous Waste will be here to pick up anything we find in the clean up and you will have the opportunity to dispose of any hazardous materials or medicines that you have in your home.  These items are never picked up curbside and need to be disposed of properly.  This includes fluorescent light bulbs (including the new compact type), e-scrap or other electronics, batteries of any kind, motor oil, tires, paint, etc.  A complete list and more information can be found on the County Website.  They will also be collecting unused medications.  Disposing of medicine into the trash or flushing down the toilet can contaminate the water supply.  Please bring unused or expired medications to the dump site.  They will be collected anonymously and incinerated.

1:00 PM:  Crime Watch Lunch

All volunteers, plus residents and owners are welcome to join us back at the common area to a get to know your neighbor Crime Watch Meeting and lunch.  Please reply to this email and let us know you are coming so there will be enough food!

DO YOU NEED HELP?

Once we get sufficient volunteers for the common areas, additional volunteers will gladly help out elderly and disabled neighbors that cannot take care of their lawns themselves.   If you are physically unable to clean up your yard, please respond to this email and let us know what you need done.  Help will be available on a first come, first served basis and only if there is extra man power.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER OR RSVP TO THE LUNCH

Just respond to this email and let us know who you are, how many volunteers, how many people for lunch and any supplies you can bring with you on Saturday to help out.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP???
Typically, we like to give out door prizes at the Crime Watch meeting.  If you know any proprietors that could donate a gift certificate, please ask.

WHAT TO BRING?

Any yard tools would be very helpful, also a truck to transport the garbage back to the common area.  Garbage bags, leaf bags and latex gloves will be provided by the HOA.

WHERE DOES THE TRASH GO?

Any bulk or oversized items can be placed on the curb.  They will be picked up Monday as part of the regular waste collection, as they are every week.  Leaves and yard debris must be put into PAPER BAGS and can also be placed in front of any home for the regular Monday pick up.  However, loose trash and small debris MUST BE BAGGED AND BROUGHT BACK TO THE COMMON AREA.   Additional bagged trash is NOT part of our regular pick up.  We will make ONE trash pile and it will be picked up in a special pick up on Monday.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!  PLEASE VOLUNTEER!!!
