GARBAGE COLLECTION - NEW GUIDELINES. . .

Alachua County Waste Management has changed some of the curbside pickup guidelines.  The last of these changes goes into effect November 1, 2009.  The change with the biggest impact to Green Leaf residents is that yard trash (such as those pesky leaves) will no longer be picked up in plastic bags.  Leaves and other yard debris can be into any container that can be dumped out into their truck, such as a trash can or cardboard box.  You cannot use your garbage cart or recycling bins.  The other option is to use a biodegradable PAPER lawn and leaf bag or PAPER grocery bags.  Leaf bags are currently available for purchase at Lowe's and Sam's Club.  They will soon be available at Publix, Home Depot and other such stores.  Please visit the Alachua County's Website for complete details.
